National research programmes
SBUF takes part in several larger research programmes based on cooperation with companies and technical universities.
Competitive Building (1998-2007) Aims to increase the competence and the international competitiveness of the Swedish building sector with providing the companies with postgraduates possessing knowledge and skills of relevance and interest to those companies. Primarily supported by the Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) and about fifteen companies. Lund University is host institute and cooperates with Chalmers, The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), The Technical University of Luleå (LTU) and The Swedish National Testing and Research Institute (SP). There are four research themes: Industrial building for good living standards and Rationalised property redevelopment to suit tenants’ requirements; Moisture design in the building process; Energy efficiency in buildings and in operational processes. So far 23 doctor students including 17 industrial doctor students have been taken on. A scientific school is included in the programme.
The industrial programme Infrastructure (Industriprogrammet Infrastruktur) (1996-2005) To create an improved building process by integrating processes in the life cycle. Is supported by Vinnova and companies as well as SBUF. The consortium Road, Bridge, Tunnel cooperates with Chalmers, KTH, LTH och LTU. 18 doctor students including 13 industrial doctor students.
IT Construction & Real Estate 2002 IT Bygg&Fastighet 2002 (1998-2002) is a sector wide programme for implementing IT in construction and facilities management. The programme is managed by an industry owned consortium and supported by public research funds.
Sustainable Building (Mistra-Bygg) (1997-2002. MISTRA Sustainable Building is a Swedish research program financed by MISTRA - The Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research. MISTRA funds research of strategic importance for a good living environment and it approves research programmes that cover various industrial sectors as well as broad environmental and social issues
The Building and its Indoor Environment (Byggnaden och innemiljön) (1998-2003) The industrial research school "The Building and its Indoor Environment" at Lund University, Sweden, is supported by the Swedish Foundation for Knowledge and Competence Development. Its main aim is to help Swedish industries to increase their competence in questions concerning the environment in our buildings. The doctoral students in the research school will be employed by industries, but do their doctoral work at Lund University
The Healthy Building (Det sunda huset) (1998-2003) Aims to promote long-term sustainability and quality of the built environment. All must be given the opportunity to live in good dwellings and to work in good premises at a reasonable cost and in a stimulating and safe environment within ecologically sustainable limits.
Centre for Management of the Build environment, CMB The initiative has been taken by the construction industry. Foundation with about 30 parties (companies, organisations, authorities) having a deal with Charmer’s on education and research projects.
Centre for research and education of maintenance of infrastructure, CDU Established 1995 by KTH, VTI and the technical university of Dalarna with the aim to gain, improve and develop and maintain competence within the maintenance of infrastructure regarding roads, railways and airports. About 25 doctor students.
Swedish Deep Stablization Research Centre (Svensk Djupstablisering) (1996-2000) a centre for research and development within deep stabilization of soil with lime-cement columns and mass stabilizations.
The Moisture Research Centre (Fuktcentrum). Carries out research in close collaboration with entrepreneurs to improve know-how and conditions to make buildings safe for moisture by houses under construction as well as rebuilding.
